Noah The Musical November 2008, Cramphorn Theatre, Chelmsford, Essex.

Director: Susan Corina Musical Director: Ian Myers

In this magical new musical Ian Gower and Rob Alderton include all the elements you would expect to tell this great story, a large boat, the animals two by two, a storm, a dove and of course the symbolic rainbow.

But that's not all... Meet Noah the man; Mrs Noah; their sons Ham, Shem and Japheth; their wives Rachel, Rebekah and Ruth; the evil council of Baasha and his elders and of course lots of animals!

With all original songs and lyrics this new musical is set to be a hit and has already played to packed houses at its world premiere where each night the cast received a standing ovation.

Offspringers & Springers join forces in June 2009 to present Oliver!

Lionel Bart brought irrepressible 'joie de vivre' to his adaptation of Dickens' great novel and produced one of the most successful British musicals of all time, helped in no small part by the 1968 motion picture. The score and the stage simply burst with hit ballads and production numbers, among them "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself", "As Long as He Needs Me", "Reviewing the Situation" and "You've Got To Pick a Pocket or Two".

Noda review of Jekyll & Hyde The Musical - June 2008

What a treat to see this production locally. Having seen this show in four different venues its music and story never fails to impress me. The sets and lighting were all superb, conveying the abysmal depression of the asylum or the grandeur of the engagement party equally well. I particularly liked the laboratory with its multi-coloured lab bench. Choral numbers were lustily sung and the “The Red Rat” gave the ladies full rein – after show parties must be fun at Springers. The leads were well cast and more than capable of mastering the difficult score. Jekyll was excellent and managed the transformation scenes well; his Hyde was particularly menacing and the “love” scenes with Lucy were both tender and threatening at the same time, underlining the duality of nature that runs through the whole piece. Lucy was a revelation. I have not seen Deborah Anderson play this type of role before and was puzzled by the choice – until I saw her performance; beautifully sung and convincingly portrayed. Emma had a strong voice and showed good rapport with both Jekyll and her father, Sir Danvers. “In his eyes” was a highlight of the show for me but there were several powerful ballads that carry this show and they were all well done. Congratulations to all.

Chelmsford Weekly News review of Jekyll & Hyde The Musical - June 2008

I struggle to be inspired by Jekyll and Hyde, the Musical. Frank Wildhorn's meandering melodies. Leslie Bricusse's limp lyrics. The anachronistic book.
But Springers clearly have no such problems, and gave the show a brilliant production at the Civic Theatre.
Eric Smart used his chorus effectively: grouping and singing were dramatically powerful. The scenery was well designed and evocative; Phill Knight's lighting design was superb. The wigs and costumes were less impressive, but the stage pictures were frequently arresting – the duet In His Eyes, the Prologue, the Façade street scene, the melodramatic wedding.
I liked the Goth bookends – the Sinister Assistants – and masks were used to good effect. Sax and sex in the Red Rat [just down the road from The Three Cripples] introduced Deborah Anderson's impeccable Lucy, the good-time girl who tempts both Jekyll and Hyde.
The tormented doctor, given a stag night and a motive for murder in this version, was played by Simon Brett – a once in a lifetime opportunity he seized with enthusiasm. His final confrontation was a tour-de-force, and he made the most of the one memorable number in the show. His intended was Olivia Gooding, with Andy Hall as her father.
